Low Back Chiropractic Adjustment

CONDITIONS WE TREAT

At Performance Health Chiropractic + Acupuncture, we understand that people have many preconceived notions about chiropractic care and how it can help. Chiropractors may be seen as doctors who just perform spinal adjustments, but in reality, it refers to a profession that focuses on the treatment and recovery of any musculoskeletal injuries.  We utilize more than just chiropractic adjustments and focus on the entire body to optimize functionality and performance throughout daily living.

The services we offer in our West Chester office all work together to treat the whole body naturally. Our team of Chiropractors is trained in many different techniques to address a wide variety of injuries. This includes chiropractic adjustment, soft tissue (muscle work), and personalized rehabilitation or exercises. We provide a natural alternative in conservative management of all injuries centered around movement, exercise, and hands-on therapy instead of surgical interventions or medications.

Ligaments, joints, muscles, and the spine all work together to help our body function, so it makes sense that issues with any of those can cause pain and dysfunction.

Here are some of the symptoms your body may be showing you that chiropractic can support:

Chiropractic Care Helps With Many Conditions

Performance Chiropractic in West Chester is here to support you and your family’s whole-body wellness.

Infants and Children

Birth itself can start us into the world misaligned, which is why we offer infant care. Colic, torticollis, and other issues may be resolved with chiropractic adjustments.

While children are incredibly resilient, bumps and tumbles happen all the time. Left untreated, their little bodies may compensate in other areas for injuries or trauma. Keep kids naturally healthy and strong with improved posture and well-being.

Teens

Teens aren’t particularly interested in good posture or form. Text neck, slouching in front of the TV or video games, or participating in sports can cause pain, strain, or injury. Students who play soccer, basketball, football, and lacrosse are seen very often in our office. So are those with hand and neck pain from their digital hobbies.

Athletes

When we push our bodies, they get stronger, but they can also experience strain, resulting in injury or pain. Golfers, runners, swimmers, tennis players, and weekend warriors see us when they need support in recovering from repetitive tasks or sport-related injuries.

As new fitness classes, such as Bungee Blast, or new-to-you classes like Pilates, are introduced into our world, new muscles may be quickly fatigued or strained.

These tired muscles can cause joint restrictions and irritate nerves, stopping us from doing the things we enjoy.

Accidents / Personal Injury

Pain can come from several causes, but when that is a personal injury such as a slip, fall, or accident, we provide chiropractic care that gets to the root of the problem. Getting pain-free and back to pre-accident condition as quickly as possible is the ultimate goal.

Post-Surgery

Recovery and rehabilitation after surgery take time. Our bodies do heal, and chiropractic care and appropriate exercises can help speed up the process.

Muscles can atrophy following surgery and may need to learn to work again, especially when there has been a loss of function or mobility.

Pre & Post Natal Care

Childbearing puts a lot of stress on a mother’s body. Pain and discomfort, especially in the low back and pelvis, are very common as the body’s center of gravity shifts with additional weight. Hormones also cause significant changes in the body, and chiropractic and acupuncture services can support all these changes to relieve stress and pressure on the body.

Acupuncture has been proven to help with pregnancy-related morning sickness, headaches, baby positioning, and preparing mom and baby for delivery.

Chiropractic care is safe for pregnant women and highly recommended for both mom and child after delivery to support the body’s alignment and health.

Planning Your First Chiropractic Visit

The primary chiropractors in the West Chester office are Dr. Kristen and Dr. Dalton. We take time with patients to give them the attention they need. Preliminary appointments last about 45 minutes to help collect information that will guide us to the root of the pain.

We will gather information about your health history, assess your body’s movements and restrictions, and answer questions you may have. We are looking to understand how your body is functioning as a whole in order to find the source of the problems you are experiencing. Because our bodies compensate for pain and injury, adjustments may be given to areas of the body different from those experiencing the symptoms. By doing this, we provide a more thorough approach than traditional Western medicine that typically seeks to fix the symptom alone.

Getting the patient back to the active lifestyle they want and enjoy, without pain or limited function, is the standard for our care.

In your appointment at our Performance Health office, you may experience:

Chiropractic Adjustment: Several techniques are used to make adjustments and can be modified for your comfort level. Discuss the methods with Dr. Kristen or Dr. Dalton to help know what to expect.

Soft Tissue (Muscle) Techniques: This soft tissue relaxation technique can be done with or without supporting instruments to reduce pain, inflammation, and tension and also improve range of motion.

Functional Rehabilitative Exercises: These gentle yet effective exercises and stretches further support your chiropractic care by reducing the recurrence of misalignments and strain. You will be instructed in the office and will have the tools and education to continue them at home to enhance your recovery. Be prepared to break a sweat in the gym with the docs when put through our exercise program.

Acupuncture:  Safely and painlessly inserting thin needles into injured muscles and tissues, we will stimulate the central nervous system by releasing chemicals that serve to promote the body’s natural healing attributes. Acupuncture is known to relax the body and mind and offer emotional well-being.

Natural Healing is at Our Fingertips

You don’t have to live with pain! A natural, non-intrusive, drug-free solution can be found in chiropractic and acupuncture care. The symptom of pain is a gift, allowing us to find the root of the problem in order to find a solution. Together we support your body with education, treatments, and exercises to achieve whole-body health.

Because Performance Health offers a range of wellness services, an action plan includes chiropractic care plus soft tissue and muscle work and personalized functional rehabilitation and exercises, as appropriate, to create a faster result. Also available in our office are dry needling and cupping therapies. Better results in a shorter timeline are always our goal.

"I happened upon Dr. Zumberger by chance when I was 7 months pregnant with my 3rd baby. She made me feel so comfortable and really helped relieve my sciatic pain I suffer with each pregnancy. She is knowledgeable and easy to talk to! You can tell She really cares about her patients and is passionate about what she does." - Ashley B. // Maineville, Ohio

"Dr. Kristen is fantastic!!! She treats your whole body, not just the perceived problem. She takes time to listen to you, and helps to uncover and fix problems that so many medical professionals overlooked before. I couldn't be happier! I feel better than I've felt in years. Thanks to Dr. Kristen!" - Rachel B. // Hamilton, Ohio

"I used to be fearful of Chiropractic Care, but Kristen's professional and knowledgeable approach has completely wiped out those fears. Kristen's expertise has worked wonders for my wife as well as our 5 month old daughter." - Matt M. // Middletown, Ohio

"Dr. Zumberger is very knowledgeable. I could tell she really has a passion for what she does. She took the time to look at how I was moving before adjusting me. She asked me questions about my daily activities of living and then educated me on how my body was responding to those tasks. She adjusted me and always informed me of what she was doing and WHY and she was doing it. She also gave me several simple exercises to do to help target the areas we were working on. When I was leaving I asked myself what took me so long to go to here and I will definitely be going back." - Brooke F; Liberty Township, Ohio

"We love Dr. Zumberger. My whole family has seen her and we have all had a positive experience. She is so gentle with my 1 year old! I saw Kristen during my pregnancy to ease pelvic pain and I couldn’t have done it without Kristen! She made my pregnancy so much more comfortable. Dr. Zumberger is very professional and really knows her stuff. She is knowledgeable in many areas of health and wellness and truly wants the best for her patients. Give her a call!" Amy E; Loveland, Ohio

"Acupuncture with Dr. Zumberger has helped with my sinuses more than imaginable. I have not had to take Claritin or Flonase for almost a year. She was kind and patient while explaining the advantages of acupuncture and I am now starting for my RA." - Robin S. // Mason, Ohio

"Every time I see Dr. Dalton and Dr. Kristen they make sure to ask me how my body is feeling and to let them know if there is ever a need for their services. When I started getting pain in my hips from running, I knew exactly who to call. Dr. Dalton was able to see me right away. The service was top notch. He asked me a series of questions that allowed him to accurately diagnose and begin treating. He tried a few different techniques to determine what exactly was causing my pain. It really was fascinating to see and hear the entire process. He was so concise and professional. Within about 20 minutes he said ok here is what I believe is happening. He explained everything so I could understand and even showed me on his IPad what was happening. I was able to see what was happening and causing my pain. He gave me stretches to do in order to relieve this pain. We practiced them right there and he recorded me doing the stretches so I had an easy guide when I got home. This was about 2 months or so ago and I do the stretches every day, I am running pain free. I would highly recommend Dr. Dalton and Dr. Kristen. Thank you for your great service!!! I will be a returning customer." - Eric D. // Loveland, Ohio

"I used to work in a salon as a stylist 5 years ago. Shortly after I had my first daughter(2013) I was getting pain in my hands but it wasn't severe or bothering me all the time just occasionally. It would flare up sometimes.... meaning randomly my hand or both hands would ache but again nothing serious. It did get to a point I couldn't take clients anymore basically because my hands would go numb. At that point I had started seeing a chiropractor, and also had spoken with my primary care doctor. The chiropractor told me I had pinched nerves in my neck. BOOM I thought that was the answer. Nope. Wasn't getting better. Although I mentioned that it wasn't and they would just say it takes time. Over the course of those 5 years I had stopped working in a salon, started seeing a new chiropractor and then got pregnant with my second daughter. No issues. Haven't had any pain hardly at all. It still just came and went. Then almost a year and a half ago I started working out at the gym heavily. Lifting heavy weights, working out 4-5 days a week consistently. That is when things changed. It started getting very painful. I thought for sure with my severe symptoms that it wasn't related and it must have been from working out. So I went and saw a spine doctor, she had me do 8 weeks of PT before I could get an MRI of my cervical spine. Everything was normal but PT was making my symptoms worse. The chiropractor I was seeing just kept telling me that in 2 weeks I'll be better. That lasted like a year, and I still had the same symptoms. THEN the magic happened, and I realized I needed to see someone else because I can't stop until I figure this out... both of my arms feel like they are going to pop off my body. I then went and saw Dr. Kristen and at my first appointment, I told her everything I've done, everyone I've seen, and how defeated I felt. Instead of telling me I needed to commit to 4 days a week for a year she told me what she thinks is going on. At my second appointment, she already had the name of who she wanted to refer me to. Within 2 weeks, I was able to get in with that doctor and get testing done. What I've been running around trying to figure out for the last 6-7 years ......is actually vascular thoracic outlet syndrome. The doc told me it's so bad my pulse goes away when raising my arms. I NOW HAVE AN ANSWER. Dr. Kristen changed my life. It sounds crazy, but this has gone on for so long, and the pain is getting unbearable. The fact that I can get this repaired and resume my normal life is amazing. If it wasn't for doctor Kristen I could be just living in severe pain. So many doctors told me I need to stretch or that I had myofascial pain syndrome. But that's not that case. I couldn't stop until I figured out what was going on. I will forever be so grateful I found Dr. Kristen" - Jessica M. // Liberty Township, Ohio

"Calling all weekend warrior golfers. If you want to take your game to the next level and play pain free, call Dr. Dalton. With a swift pop and a few cracks, he will have your back ready to support your golf game. No matter how many shots it takes you to get through 18 holes." - Louie R. // Blue Ash, Ohio

"I found Dr. Kristen online, and I’m so happy I did. I suffer mostly with hip pain, and Kristen had a different approach than chiropractors I’d seen in the past. Most Dr.’s rush you in, do generic adjustments, and send you on your way before learning your name. Dr. Kristen took the time to hear about and observe my issues and not only gave me adjustments but exercises, stretches, and advice on how to minimize/eliminate my issues in the future. A lot of Dr.’s treat symptoms, she really looked to treat the cause. After seeing Dr. Kristen for a month or so, I got my husband going to see Dr. Dalton, and now we’re both obsessed. I’ve also started getting acupuncture which has also been amazing. Dr. Kristen took the time to really explain everything to me and has customized treatment for me. They are also just 2 genuinely nice people, I love heading in for my appointments. Couldn’t recommend them more!" - Sloan R. // Blue Ash, Ohio

"Dr. Kristen and Performance Health: Chiropractic + Acupuncture and massage therapist Jessica have helped me so much with increase in my range of motion, headache relief, and overall health. I'm so thankful to have found them!" Diana D. // Liberty Township, Ohio

"Dr. Dalton is amazing, he explains everything he is doing and why! I am seeing great results and would recommend this team to anyone!" Ray B. // West Chester, Ohio

"I love coming to see Dr. Kristen! She makes her care so personalized with each visit, asking where my areas of pain are each time. She has done adjustments for my face and jaw that have really helped my TMJ tendencies. She and Dalton are both so sociable and friendly to be around. Clean facility and a lovely experience!" Mike H. // West Chester, Ohio

"These guys are the best. Dr. Wood customized his approach to my concerns and has a plan for me to get and STAY healthy. If you are looking for people, you can trust and be around to help for a long time, so yourself a favor and schedule an appointment. I am very grateful I did!" Lee B. // Montgomery, Ohio

"Having never been to a chiropractor before, I didn’t know what to expect walking into Performance Health Chiropractic a few months ago. The calm and welcoming office environment caught me off guard, and I was very impressed by how welcoming the kind, and gentle staff were to a new patient with a million questions. The office and rooms are nice and clean, and the staff are very flexible, working around my schedule for a follow-up. I would highly recommend Drs. Dalton and Kristen Wood, as I am always greeted with a warm smile, and a “how was that thing you told me about?” - a clear indication that they truly care about and are invested in their patients’ health and well-being." Keegan R. // West Chester, Ohio

"Just finished up with Dr. Kristen and was floored when she said, "okay - come back in a month." Normally it's 1 week, maybe 2 weeks. Dr. Kristen is incredible and kind and knows her stuff. She's been treating me with gentle adjustments, cupping, scraping, and strengthening therapies. She's helped me recover from a dislocated wrist in 4 weeks. To not have any aches or pains is just shy of a miracle, especially having Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and lifting heavy weights 4 times a week. Guy's - get in with Dr. Kristen and heal your body!" Shannon O. // Liberty Township, Ohio

"Dr. Kristen is amazing! If you are looking for a chiropractor to help with pregnancy pains, she is the best." Katie C. // Cincinnati, Ohio
